Microsoft Viva Sales: What It Was and What It Is Now
January 18, 2023
Last Modified On: October 30, 2026
Microsoft Viva Sales no longer exists under that name. Launched in October 2022 to bring CRM data into Outlook and Teams, it was renamed Microsoft Sales Copilot in July 2023 and later became Microsoft 365 Copilot for Sales. Its features, such as CRM updates from Outlook and AI email drafts, now live there.
What was Microsoft Viva Sales?
Viva Sales was a Microsoft app for salespeople that connected a CRM, such as Dynamics 365 Sales or Salesforce, to Outlook and Teams. Sellers could save emails and meetings to the CRM, see customer records without switching apps, and get AI-suggested replies. It was not a CRM itself; it sat on top of one.
Microsoft described it as the first Viva app built for one specific role: sellers (Microsoft).
What happened to Viva Sales?
Microsoft folded Viva Sales into its Copilot line. Viva Sales reached general availability on October 3, 2022, was renamed Microsoft Sales Copilot on July 18, 2023, and became Microsoft Copilot for Sales in February 2024. Since October 2025, the sales features are offered as a role-based agent inside Microsoft 365 Copilot.

What does Microsoft 365 Copilot for Sales do?
Copilot for Sales connects Microsoft 365 Copilot to your CRM so sellers can work from Outlook and Teams. It summarizes customer emails and meetings, drafts replies using CRM data, prepares meeting briefs, and saves activities back to the CRM. It works with Dynamics 365 Sales and Salesforce, and can connect to other sales tools.

How much does Copilot for Sales cost?
Copilot for Sales sits on top of Microsoft 365 Copilot, which lists at US$30 per user per month for enterprise plans and US$21 for the small-business Copilot Business plan. Microsoft has been changing how the sales features are packaged since October 2025, so confirm current pricing with Microsoft or a partner before buying.
Prices per Schneider IT Management and EPC Group. You also need a qualifying Microsoft 365 business or enterprise plan (Microsoft).
Do small businesses need Copilot for Sales?
Only if your sellers live in Outlook and Teams and keep customer data in a CRM such as Dynamics 365 or Salesforce. Without a CRM, the sales features have little to connect to. Many small businesses get more value first from Microsoft 365 Copilot or Copilot Chat inside the Microsoft 365 plan they already have.

Frequently asked questions about Microsoft Viva Sales
Is Microsoft Viva Sales still available?
Not under that name. Microsoft renamed Viva Sales to Microsoft Sales Copilot in July 2023, and it later became Microsoft 365 Copilot for Sales. Existing customers kept the same features; only the name and icon changed.
Is Viva Sales a CRM?
No. Viva Sales, and today Copilot for Sales, connects to an existing CRM such as Dynamics 365 Sales or Salesforce. It brings CRM data into Outlook and Teams and saves activities back to the CRM, but the customer records still live in the CRM.
What is the difference between Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot for Sales?
Microsoft 365 Copilot helps with email, documents and meetings using your Microsoft 365 data. Copilot for Sales adds a sales agent that also reads and updates your CRM, so summaries, replies and meeting briefs include customer and deal information.
Does Copilot for Sales work with Salesforce?
Yes. Copilot for Sales works with both Salesforce Sales Cloud and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales, and Microsoft says it can be configured to connect to other sales solutions.
